Description

For three brief years in the mid-2000s, Mercedes-Benz made what may be the perfect “do-it-all” car that offered reliable M113 V8 power (topping 300+ horses), comfortable seating for seven, cargo room sufficient for a month-long vacation and all-wheel drive traction to power that vacation into the Rockies: the 2004-E500 4Matic Wagon offered everything a buyer could reasonably want in a single vehicle household and did it with classic, round-headlight Mercedes styling.

Its 5.0-liter M113 V8engine is paired with a five-speed automatic transmission with SpeedShift as well as 4MATIC all-wheel drive. The M113 V8 was rated at 302 hp and 339 ft-lbs of torque.

This car was more spacious than its predecessor, and its sloped quad headlights gave it a more attractive and refined appearance. The E500 specifically was the last non-AMG wagon offered to American buyers with an eight-cylinder engine.

Although it costs more than its competitors at time of purchase in 2004, sleek and dignified design inside and out, pleasing blend of ride and handling, sophisticated safety features, all-wheel drive with luxury features and high style make this E500 4Matic Wagon an all time favorite.
